Church Planting Sunday is Coming Sunday, May 15th and we have some big plans!

In a recent board meeting a long term plan for making disciples was approved in which we will partner with Navigators International in developing an intentional disciple-making culture here at Dayspring.  In the past couple of months we have been conducting a test version of this plan with a small group of about 13 people.  In that time we’ve seen 5 of these 13 start weekly discipleship groups with 2 more planned to start soon.

What does this have to do with Church Planting?

Everything!  Planting churches isn’t about being able to say, “Look what we did!”  Planting churches is about bringing the Gospel to people who haven’t heard it, it’s about helping people become more like Jesus in their homes and communities, and it’s about God’s Kingdom here on earth as it is in Heaven.  In other words, you have to be able to make disciples if you’re going to plant churches.

What about Church Planting Sunday?

With an eye towards celebrating annually, Sunday, May 15th, we will take a time out from our regular routines to look at all that God is doing through the church across the world and in our own backyard.  Together, we’ll celebrate the many ways that God’s people are helping others to find salvation in Christ.  Together, we’ll pray for those who are in the trenches serving the Lord in the midst of some of the darkest places on earth.  Together, we plan to give $10,000 towards the work of making disciples and planting new works here at Dayspring.

Why $10,000?

All ministry plans have a cost but having talked this plan through with our board and having prayed about it we couldn’t think of a better way to spend money than investing in training, coaching, and empowering our people to make disciples.  So what does the $10,000 cover?  It covers a one on one coaching relationship for two of our pastors who will lead this plan, a long-term coaching and training relationship with the church as we intentionally grow a disciple-making culture at Dayspring, and the accountability and expertise of the Navigators ministry over a three year period.

How will this offering work?

On Sunday, May 15th we will be taking a special offering, alongside our regular offering, in an effort to raise $10,000.  That morning you will be able to give by cash or check, give online through our app, or make a pledge to give.  Our goal is that by the end of the morning we will have received gifts or commitments for all $10,000.
